You can easily restrict access to various services with the ESXi 5 firewall. This post will explain how to restrict access to the vSphere client, but can be applied to any of the other services listed (for example SSH).
Accessing the Security Profile
- Click on the Host in vSphere Client
- Select Configuration
- Select Security Profile
- Select properties across from the Firewall heading
Restricting Access to the vSphere Client
- Scroll down and find the ‘vSphere Client’ entry
- Select and click Firewall
- Change to ‘Only allow connections from the following networks’
- Enter the IP(s) or Network(s) you want to allow access
