Updating VMware Tools – ESXi 5

Once you have updated your host to version 5 you should update the guest version of VMware tools.

You will get a yellow exclamation mark within your guest and the vSphere client will display 'Running (Out-of-date).'

Upgrading VMware tools

• Login into the vSphere Client
• Right click the guest you want to update
• Select Guest -> Install/Upgrade VMware Tools
• Choose Automatic Tools upgrade
• This will update the guest - Beware this will also automatically reboot the guest
